Emporiki Bank Romania, former Commercial Bank of Greece (Romania), had the official opening of its operations in September 1999, being a wholly owned subsidiary of Emporiki Bank Greece. Following its mother-company decision to create a new corporate identity, the Bank changed its name by the end of year 2003 into Emporiki Bank - Romania S.A.
Emporiki Bank of Greece, the major shareholder of Emporiki Bank Romania, holding more than 98% of the Bank's share capital, was established in 1907 and is one of the largest commercial banks in Greece, in terms of assets, branches network and overall presence. Emporiki Bank Group has a broad branches network throughout Greece and Cyprus, Great Britain and Germany and operates subsidiaries in Romania, Bulgaria and Albania.
Emporiki Bank Romania operates as a full-scale commercial bank and provides a broad range of banking services, such as enterprise financing, personal loans, housing loans, deposits, international operations, treasury management, consulting services, foreign exchange operations, issue of credit and debit cards and Internet banking. In present, Emporiki Bank Romania has 30 branches in Bucharest and all over the country.
