Banco Comercial Português, also known as BCP was founded in 1985 and is the largest bank of Portugal, member of the Euronext 100 stock index; current CEO is Carlos Santos Ferreira. BCP is based in Porto but its operations are headquartered in Oeiras, Greater Lisbon. It operates a branch brand dubbed and restyled in 2004 as Millennium BCP.

Setting up Banco Comercial Português in the domestic market involved a sequential approach to the various market segments through the offer of differentiated value proposals and of innovative financial services.

In order to provide an overall financial service offer, specialised financial subsidiaries were set up to operate in complementary business areas, providing the Group with an organisation structure suited to the provision of complete, homogeneous solutions adequate to the requirements and expectations of the various segments of the market, providing very high quality and specialisation.
