Emporiki Bank was established in 1907, has been listed on the ATHEX since 1909 and today is one of the largest commercial Greek banks. In June 2000, Emporiki Bank entered into a strategic alliance agreement with the Crédit Agricole international banking group, which acquired initially 6.7% of the Emporiki’s share capital. Following the public offer made by Crédit Agricole in June 2006 for the acquisition of 100% of the shares held by Emporiki Bank, Crédit Agricole today holds around 72% of the Bank’s share capital, with the remainder being held by approximately 46,000 shareholders.

The Group of Emporiki is one of the most dynamic Groups in the financial sector, and offers an extensive range of products and services, such as investment banking and leasing, factoring, insurance, bancassurance, asset management for institutional investors, mutual fund management, securities portfolio management, real estate development and management, and consumer credit. The Group employs a total of around 7,600 persons. Through its new shareholder, who is one of the largest financial institutions on the global scale, Emporiki has now access to significant know-how and to an international network covering approximately 70 countries.

Vision

The Vision of Emporiki Bank's Renaissance is based on the Commercial, Operational and Organizational Transformations, essential "tools" for the realization of the five-year Business Plan.

Emporiki Bank has already come a long way in the pillar of the Operational Transformation, thus producing immediate benefits for their officers as well as their clients. They have recently completed and implemented a new procedure regarding the Transformation of Housing Loans, a task of vital importance, which will result in a time reduction of approximately 75% regarding the transformation of an already existing loan into a new one.

The Organizational Transformation pillar, a particularly demanding but necessary task, aims at the reorganization of the procedures concerning the selection, training, development, remuneration and recognition of their personnel's work, while respecting Emporiki Bank's new business needs.

The Transformation is a business project; their Vision is the Renaissance of Emporiki Bank. The word "Renaissance" comprises optimism, joy, creation and perspective, thus, marking a new dynamic start for Emporiki Bank in the best of manners, full of aspirations, hopes and will for the best.

The Vision of "Renaissance" is primarily addressed to the people of Emporiki’s Group. Every change is first held within us. However, with the Transformation Program's positive course, the Renaissance will gradually become the Vision addressed to Emporiki's more extended family and especially to its clients. Based on the "Renaissance", they will be able to form Emporiki Bank's new brand identity within the following two years. The identity of a reborn Bank, fully aligned with the demands of its time, though based on the examples of its successful past.
